ABOUT US...
Michael Whalen and Lynda Apple have brought Concrete Countertops and Concrete design to Northern Arizona. Our influences and training include seminars and classes with Fu-Tung Cheng of Cheng Design, Buddy Rhodes of Rhodes Design, Jeff Giarard of the Concrete Countertop Institute, and Tom Ralston not to mention countless trial runs and intensive classes at trade shows and with other fabricators throughout the country. We officially began our business in September of 2005.
Lynda is a Project Manager for residential custom homes and also has a design background. Michael - lovingly referred to as "Whalen", is an artist, craftsman, and carpenter as well as a river guide through the Grand Canyon on the Colorado River. His jewelry is very popular with local and visiting skiers and river runners. Previous to that, he ran the 3rd generation family moving business for 10 years. A VERY valuable skill as we determine the best ways to move and handle you custom concrete pieces!
InConcrete got started when a client of Lynda's said, "If I see another granite countertop, I'm going to puke." The client wanted something different and had been doing her homework. She wanted Concrete. There were no established fabricators in the Flagstaff area at the time. Lynda and Whalen had been studying to find the right business for the two of them to do together as husband and wife - and business partners. A business that would meld their talents and passions to form a professional partnership allowing husband and wife to make their living together, creatively.
Whalen was "on the river" at the time. Lynda did some homework on the business and got so excited she hiked down the 8 miles to the Colorado River one morning (and back) to intercept Whalen on his trip to share the idea...
"I found what we can do together..."
The rest is as they say, history.
